Problems with seeing the cursor in the What's in my .. Apps after updating to iOS7
A number of users of the What's in my.... Apps have drawn our attention to the fact that the cursor is not visible when adding items and notes. This is an issue that only affects users who have updated to iOS7. Sadly it is a matter outside our control. Apple decided in iOS7 - for reasons not immediately clear - to change the cursor from blue to white. This is close to impossible to see against the white background of the entry boxes. We know that Apple are planning updates to iOS7 and hope that this issue will be resolved by them. We will update this FAQ as soon as we know more.

Registering your IM Apps purchases on the Intelligent Maintenance website to use the Support Ticket service
To raise Support Tickets on Intelligent Maintenance Apps, you need to register the Apps that you purchased from the App Store on the Intelligent Maintenance website. To do that is easy. Go to intelligentmaintenance.com and click on Register or Sign in if you already have an account. Once you have signed in, go to the Products page and click on the App that you purchased. Then click on 'Associate app'. The heading will change to say 'You own this product'. Click on that button and then on 'My Support Tickets' in the menu to raise a question or submit a comment.
Adding photos to the My Boat App
As with other Apps, you can only upload photos into the My Boat App that are on your Camera Roll. This is fine if you took the photo with your iPad as the photo will already be in your Camera Roll. However, if you want to upload photos that you took on other devices such as your camera, you will need to download iPhoto from the App Store. You can then select the photos that you want to transfer to your Camera Roll using iPhoto and upload them to My Boat.
Functionality issues in the What's in my.... Apps following launch of iOS8
Since the implementation by Apple of iOS8 we have received a number of notifications from customers using the What's in my .... Apps that they are experiencing functionality issues. Whilst we believed that all of our Apps were compatible with iOS8 it appears that there is something in the new operating system which is causing a problem. We are working on identifying the issue and hope to find the solution soon as possible. Hopefully by 27 September 2014. We will of course issue a product update once the issue is resolved. The update will happen automatically.
Using " to represent inches
Some users have let us know that when they use double inverted commas (quotation marks) to represent inches when adding an item e.g. 10" dinner plate, that they are unable to do that. This is because the control sees the symbol " as indicating a different action. The way round this is to put two single inverted commas one after the other.
Maintenance actions for items not listed within the App
Whist there are programmed maintenance actions associated with over 500 items in the App, there will be items that users add which do not have maintenance actions. The way to deal with this is to select an item from the pre-programmed list that you think is likely to have maintenance actions that would be similar to the item you are adding. Add that item and then Edit the name of the item to what you wish to call it. For example, instead of adding an item called 'Chess set' - which is not a programmed item - add an item called 'Ornament' - which is a pre-programmed item with its own set on maintenance actions. Then Edit 'Ornament' to say 'Chess set'. You can then Edit the programmed maintenance actions for that item to suit your needs.
Ideas welcome for new items to add to the pre-programmed items list
Pre-programmed maintenance actions associated with over 500 commonly owned household items are currently included in the program. We are delighted that users are making suggestions for additional items that could be added to the list. All suggestions are very welcome and appreciated. We will accumulate all the ideas and will include more items, complete with suggested maintenance actions, in the next upgrade of IntelligentHomeCare.
Resizing the App window for IntelligentHomeCare
A user has raised the question as to whether the size of the window in which the App sits can be expanded, for example when using a large monitor. The size of the window was designed to be the same size as the iPad so that the App can be used seamlessly on multiple devices - Mac, iPad and Windows PC. The interface is not therefore scaleable i.e. there is no way to maximise it or make it bigger.
Raising Support Tickets
It is only possible to raise a Support Ticket for a product which has been purchased directly from the Intelligent Maintenance website. Users of products that have been purchased through the App Store should use the 'Contact us' option to raise queries or offer suggestions.
Need to enter an item name for alpha search to work
In order for the alpha search to work it is necessary to enter an Item name for each entry. If the Item name field is left blank - even though a Location may have been set - the alpha search function will not work and attempting a search may cause the App to crash.
Using dictation in the What's in my.... Apps
When using dictation to enter Notes in the Add details page, the screen becomes black and tapping on 'Done' to exit the page returns the user to the Browse screen rather than to the Details editing page. Whilst the notes that were dictated are captured, the user needs to select the item from the Browse page and then continue to edit it from in the Edit page. Whilst frustrating, this is a function of the way that the Apple dictation system operates and is not something that we are able to modify.
Why has the name of the My Boat app changed to ShipShape?
We have changed the name of the My Boat app to ShipShape to reflect its role in the ShipShape family of boat products. We will be launching ShipShape Pro soon which has all the functionality of ShipShape and adds comprehensive maintenance, address book and fleet management features. Existing users of ShipShape - which was My Boat - will be able to upgrade seamlessly to ShipShape Pro if they wish. We have added some new features to ShipShape as part of the change. Users can now add two images to each cost in the Costs section - useful to add images of invoices/receipts - and have the ability to re-order entries in Checklists.

Do I need to buy a subscription to use the App?
Some customers have asked about whether you need to buy a subscription to use the App. The answer is No you do not. The App works on a stand alone basis on iPad, Mac or PC. If you do wish to purchase the purely optional subscription, it gives you additional features i.e. storing your data securely in the IM Cloud Service - just in case your device is stolen or crashes ; allowing you to share your data between different devices - what you enter for example on your iPad can be viewed and edited on your Mac or your PC; and you can receive a PDF of your Things to do straight in your email at a frequency of your choosing - handy for reminding you of what is due to be done. So you have two choices with IntelligentHomeCare: Use it as a stand alone App on your iPad, Mac or PC or purchase the subscription to get additional features.
Are maintenance actions pre-programmed?
Some potential customers have asked if the maintenance actions are pre-programmed. The answer is 'Yes' and 'No'. You either select items from the list of items included in the App - each of which has pre-programmed maintenance actions which you can include or exclude and modify as you wish - or you enter an item and and can set up your own maintenance actions with their own attributes e.g. frequency. There are over 500 items in the App that have pre-programmed maintenance actions. Feedback from users tells us that if they do not find the item they want in the list, they select an item which is in the list and which is likely to have similar maintenance needs to the item they want to enter, select that, and then just change the name of the item.
Does IntelligentHomeCare work in all regional settings?
The App works in any country if the version you have purchased is for iPad or Mac. The Windows version for PC works in UK and US English regional settings.
Shy people can use LetsTalkLater too!
One of our users came up with a good tip. If you are shy about passing your phone to someone you've just met and asking them to enter their name and email address, just take their business card and enter their information in the App at your leisure. You will still be able to use all the functionality of LetsTalkLater. You might miss the super-coolness of seeing your profile appear in real-time on the other person's phone though!
Transferring entries from ShipShape to ShipShape Pro
All of the entries that you made in ShipShape can be transferred into ShipShape Pro. Just save to Dropbox in ShipShape (About > Dropbox icon) and then upload in ShipShape Pro (Manage Boats > Settings > Dropbox icon > Import from ShipShape). The transfer works upwards i.e. from ShipShape to ShipShape Pro but not downwards. If you continue to make entries in ShipShape after you have transferred your entries to ShipShape Pro and then upload ShipShape again, the entries that you have made in ShipShape Pro will be overwritten by the entries you made in ShipShape. We therefore recommend that, once you have transferred your entries in ShipShape into ShipShape Pro, you only use ShipShape Pro for adding new entries. As ShipShape Pro has all the functionality of ShipShape - and lots more of course - there will be no need to use ShipShape going forward.
Name change from IntelligentHomeCare to PropertyCare
We have changed the name of our premium property maintenance app from IntelligentHomeCare to PropertyCare. The change was made to avoid the confusion that was occurring insofar as some people thought that the app related to the care of people rather than of property.
